Our mission is to provide safe, uninterrupted water and sewer service to our customers who reside within the Stratton Mountain Resort and surrounding communities while protecting public safety and the environment.

The Winhall-Stratton Fire District #1 was chartered on July 29, 1995 to provide the Stratton Mountain Resort and surrounding communities with a modern system of water supply, wastewater treatment and disposal.   Our goals are to provide clean, safe uninterrupted supply of drinking water to our customers while protecting the environment using state of the art treatment technology and disposal.  The water is supplied by 15 drilled bedrock wells and there is over a million gallons of storage for domestic use and fire protection. It is disinfected and treated to protect against harmful pathogens and elements.  The collection system delivers the used water to the wastewater treatment facility where it is treated and stored until it can be disposed of on over 300 acres of woodland sprayfields.  This is a method of disposal unique to higher elevation systems.  This is all accomplished by a team of certified water and sewer operators that are continually expanding their knowledge through classes and training.  All customers are encouraged to reach out to the staff with any questions or concerns they may have regarding their water, where it comes from and where it goes.
